The Latte Game Lounge!


Postponed due to a winter snowstorm, the Latte Game Lounge took place on Saturday, April 13th to cap off a wonderful National Library Week!

We had a large group of gamers attend for trivia, tabletop games, bingo,
brain teasers, and more!

Taylor Swift Friendship Bracelets – The Finale!

On March 1st, we had our third and final session of the Adult and Teen drop-in craft, Taylor Swift Friendship bracelets! It was a great afternoon of crafting, music, socializing, and a “special appearance” by none other than Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce!

Everyone had so much fun making bracelets together that our Youth Department is going to be hosting two sessions for elementary school students! Grades 4-7 will have a session on Wednesday, April 17th from 5 to 6 pm, followed by Grades 2 and 3 on Wednesday, April 24th, from 5 to 6 pm.

We Talked Oscars!

On Saturday, February 24th, Readers Services presented our second annual Academy Awards program, Let’s Talk Oscars! We spoke about the nominees in seven different Oscar categories, and gave our choices (who we’d like to see win) and predictions (who we think will win) for the ceremony on March 10th. We were joined by a marvelous audience and special guest Ryan Gosling(!) for an afternoon of informative fun and great movie snacks!

Return to Poe’s Mansion!

On Saturday, February 3rd, Rolling Meadows Library returned to Poe’s Mansion for another exciting day of escape room fun!

An escape room is a popular social activity where a group of players are “locked” into a themed room and need to solve a variety of puzzles or riddles to escape. This time around there were four sessions, and all the participants had a great time!

You never know if the Raven has quoth, “Nevermore” on this fun program, so be on the lookout!
There may be more rooms to escape in your future…

A Successful Escape!

On Saturday, October 28, Rolling Meadows Library hosted a new program, Escape From Poe’s Mansion!
An escape room is a popular social activity where a group of players are “locked” into a themed room and need to solve a variety of puzzles or riddles to escape. There were five sessions with 23 patrons from first time participants to seasoned escape room players and they all had great things to say. Comments like, “It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it!” “The set-up was so elaborate!” “The quality of this escape room is the kind you pay money for!” “The puzzles were just that good! Challenging and fun!”

Poe is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre, and his death is a mystery that continues to baffle experts. However, at the Rolling Meadows Library, you will be able to find a cornucopia of clues that just may solve the case, and earn free prizes while you do.  So, what are you waiting for?
