Summer Reading Concludes!

Every couple of weeks during summer reading, Reader’s Advisory has been putting out different displays that go with the theme “Get in the Game: READ!” in the area surrounding our desk. Anything that is on the cubes can be checked out, just like anything else in the library!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Summer Reading program; it was a great success!

For the remainder of August, there are several different exciting displays to choose from.

“Marry, Date or Dump,” located on the left book cube, takes romance through its different stages in fiction.

“Ouija,” located on the center book cube, is a wide selection of paranormal fiction, ranging from horror to romance to fantasy.

“Dance Dance Revolution,” located on the CD display cube, is music that could be featured in the popular video game.  Get up and get moving with these tunes!

Our corner display is back to a rotating spotlight on different topics.  Right now we’re spotlighting the Olympics!  Take some fiction and films home that will make you feel like you’re at the Games.

The film walls feature “Uno,” foreign language films, and “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?,” nonfiction films featuring topics adults learned in school but may have forgotten.

Our new book display and staff suggestions display are back to their regular selves, and you can still find excellent reads on each one.

The Teen display to end up the summer is “The Game of Life,” which is a mixture of fiction and nonfiction titles dealing with real life issues facing young adults.

Check out the slideshow below for photos of each of these displays.
We encourage you to come in and check out these displays for yourself; you can always take something home!

Summer Reading is Here!

Our Summer Reading Program for Adults and Teens, “Read to the Rhythm,” began today!  This vibrant program designed to keep readers of all ages reading throughout the summer goes until August 9th.

People who have a Rolling Meadows library card are encouraged to sign up at the Reader’s Advisory desk in the library.  At sign up, you’ll get a goodie bag with lots of treats, plus two music quizzes to fill out and return for end of summer prizes!

For adults, each book you finish gets you a ticket for our weekly paperback raffle, and for teens, you can read a book, listen to a CD, read a magazine, or watch a movie for your raffle tickets.

Keep an eye out, because there just might be more prizes popping up during the summer!
